How to install a GNOME extension starting from the zip archive

  1. Get the extension’s uuid:
    $ unzip -c [zip-file] metadata.json | grep uuid | cut -d \" -f4
    
  2. Create the destination directory:
    $ mkdir -p ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[extension-uuid]
    
  3. Unzip the GNOME extension:
    $ unzip -q [zip-file] -d ~/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/[extension-uuid]/
    
  4. Enable GNOME extension:
    $ gnome-extensions enable [extension-uuid]
    

Apply Dark theme to Qt applications

N.B.: this method is both valid for Gnome and Mate (tested on Endeavour OS).

Arch Linux

  1. Install the package qt5-styleplugins:
    $ sudo pacman -S qt5-styleplugins
    
  2. Open /etc/environment with admin privileges
  3. Append the following line:
    QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2

Ubuntu

  1. Install the package qt5-style-plugins:
    $ sudo apt install qt5-style-plugins
    
  2. Open /etc/environment with admin privileges
  3. Append the following line:
    QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME=gtk2
